PP Systems - CIRAS-2 Portable Photosynthesis System

   

The CIRAS-2 system is in its unique optical bench assembly. The CIRAS-2 is a True Differential & Truly Portable Combined Fluorescence System. It features four independent, non-dispersive infrared gas analyzers for accurate, simultaneous measurement of both CO2 and H2O eliminating the problems associated  with "gas switching" systems. There are no moving parts. The analyzers are secure within the console, with filters to protect the gold plated sample cells from dust and water. Effective insulation ensures good thermal stability. The CO2/H2O analyzers are virtually maintenance free. The infrared gas analysers, perhaps the most sensitive part of the system, are safely secured in the main console which has been specially designed for ruggedness. The entire optical bench is protected and adequately filtered from harsh field conditions. Routine maintenance includes inspection / replacement of air conditioning chemicals, filter elements, "O" ring lubrication and proper installation of CO2 cartridges. The CIRAS-2 system can easily be used as a stand-alone CO2/H2O infrared gas analyzer without the need for a leaf cuvette. This is particularly useful for whole plant work, balloon studies and for accurately monitoring CO2/H2O in growth chambers, nurseries, etc.

  • Analysis Method
    Non-dispersive infrared, configured as an absolute absorptiometer, with microprocessor  control of linearization.
  • Four channels (IRGA) simultaneously measure
    Absolute CO2 and humidity of reference gas.
    Differential concentration of analysis gas.
  • Measurement Range
    CO2 Optimized Range. --0-2,000µmol mol-¹. (ppm).
    CO2 Maximum Range. --0-9,999µmol mol-¹. (ppm)
    H2O --0-75mb (maximum = dew point at ambient temperature).
  • Linearity
    For optimal range, better than 1.0% of range at any point assuming calibration at 2,000µmol mol-¹.
  • Stability
    Automatic zero at regular intervals corrects for sample cell contamination, source and detector aging, and pre-amplifier gain changes.
  • Response Time
    Electrical --0.5 seconds. Display / Analog Output --1.6 seconds. Pneumatic --< 5 seconds.
  • Air Sampling
    50-100cm³ min-¹ using integral DC pumps. Both analysis and reference pumps are fitted with mass flow controllers. The analyzer may be used in both open and closed systems.
  • Environmental Sensor Inputs
    3 input channels are available. There is integral conditioning of our %RH, temperature, and PAR sensors.
  • RS232 Output
    Stored/current data output in standard ASCII format at 9600 baud.
  • Power Supply
    Internal rechargeable 12V NiMH. Analyzer battery life of approximately 8-10 hours (with both batteries). Individual batteries can be easily changed without shutting down the system.
